15th of October at 15.00 CET is the deadline to apply (application not binding) to the post-graduate master course onCULTURAL PROPERTY PROTECTION IN CRISIS RESPONSE organized by the SUISS (Struttura universitaria interdipartimentale in scienze strategiche) of the University of Turin in collaboration with Comando per la formazione e Scuola di applicazione dell'Esercito Italiano, Torino; International Institute of Humanitarian Law, Sanremo; UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Development and Territory Management; Centro Conservazione Restauro La Venaria Reale. Some scholarship will be offered (see below).

The Master in Cultural Property Protection in Crisis Response is designed for civilian and military personnel wishing to specialize in cultural property. The master aims to prepare a future generation of professionals with an expertise in the protection of material and immaterial cultural property in time of crisis (e.g. wars, calamities). Its goal is to provide every participants with a multidisciplinary background that will enable them to know and to apply the existing international legal framework protecting cultural property, to better understand and to apply the most recent and innovative techniques for its protection in time of crisis.
Depending on each participant's background and interests, the program is ideal for members of Armed Forces deployed in field operations, civilians working in non-governmental organizations that operate in critical scenarios, managers of cultural sites and graduates that wish to develop a career in this field.

 

PROGRAMME: The main topics are: 1) The law of international protection of cultural heritage, 2) The economics of cultural heritage, 3) The politics of cultural heritage protection, 4) A sociological approach to the protection of cultural heritage, 5)  Information management, 6) Management of cultural heritage protection.
The course working language will be English.
The Course is worth a total of 60 credits (CFU - Crediti Formativi Universitari), for a total amount of 1.500 hours, divided as follows:  572 hours of lectures, distance learning; 928 hours of Individual Study.


 WHO CAN ATTEND: A Bachelor level degree and a good knowledge of English are required. 
A maximum number of  40 participants is foreseen.  The master course will be activated on condition that there are at least 15 participants.

APPLICATION DEADLINE15th of October 2017 until 15.00 CET. The application is NOT binding, but it is necessary to be admitted to the selection.

TUITION FEE: The tuition fee is of 8.000,00 Euro.   The payment of the tuition fee will be splitted in four installments of 2.000 Euro.
A number of scholarships will be offered. Criteria for awarding scholarships include professional profile, capacity to implement the acquired knowledge and relevance of the participant for the course. Preference will be given to applicants for scholarships from low income countries.

PERIOD & VENUE: November 2017 - June 2018.
Distance learning phase: from November 6, 2017 to February 4, 2018.
The course attendance on campus is mandatory and implies full time engagement from Monday to Thursday (9.30-16.30 CET) in the period February 5, 2018-June 1, 2018. On Friday, VIP lectures, practical exercises, exams or days off are planned.

Lectures during the on campus phases  in Torino will be held at Comando per la formazione e Scuola di Applicazione dell'Esercito Italiano, Palazzo dell'Arsenale, Via Arsenale 22, Torino.
