The Pompeii Sustainable Preservation Project is looking for conservation students for its new edition of the Summer Academy in 2018. The School is open to students in conservation (Master level or higher) who are experienced in wall painting and plaster restoration to work for eight weeks in Pompeii from 3rd September to 26th October, 2018. The school is open also to architects who focus on cultural heritage, archaeologists and students of natural sciences with specific interests in conservation. To these specializations 3 to max 4 spots are reserved.
Parallel to the practical work, seminars and lectures on the history of Pompeii, its restoration, ancient mortar technology, 3D documentation, further on restoration-work related themes will be offered.
Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the Pompeii Sustainable Preservation Project, as well as a small financial contribution towards living expenses. The common language for the Summer Academy will be English, some knowledge of Italian is welcome, but it is not a requirement for participation.
